Approximately twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms passed over the area, generating powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Massive Hailstones and Extensive Destruction

Residents witnessed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Utility workers were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams working to handle the widespread outages.

Victoria's Weather Woes

Meanwhile, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also experienced electricity disruptions after the capital city saw its wettest day in a year and a half.

Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the region, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

At one point on yesterday, over twenty-eight thousand energy customers in Victoria were experiencing outages.

Weather Forecast

Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.

The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with persistent thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both regions.

Safety Concern

Medical authorities alerted that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the current weather patterns.
