Tehran is prepared to resume nuclear discussions with Washington as long as it is treated with "respect" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has stated.

The earlier sessions of talks between the United States and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and bitter termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with US support, struck Iran's enrichment centers in a two-week conflict that concluded with Donald Trump asserting the locations had been obliterated. Subsequently, European countries employed their right to reimpose international penalties, but Iran insists they have not had a major impact.

Ideal Resolution Offered

Tehran representatives claimed they felt they had reached a "ideal resolution" to the enrichment issue in earlier negotiations, when it was agreed an local partnership with Washington's engagement could enrich uranium. The two nations would have been able to declare success since home-based processing would have continued and the US could be confident that Iran's atomic project was exclusively peaceful.

He added: "We managed to survive this war. Our atomic expertise, which they intended to obliterate, remains in place.
